Incubus

Listen to Incubus. Dig, it's kinda old and I really didn't like it when it first came out, but thanks to my sister I really listened to the lyrics and it is one of the most beautiful love songs I've ever heard.

Why the Oscars Suck

Why do the Oscar's suck? I'll tell you.

1. I had to go the Beverly Center today and it took me almost 3 hours because of the traffic.

2. On a more serious note, the Coens took Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Film. No Country For Old Men was one of my favorite films of the year, it made me think, it taught me something, it made me extremely scared, and it made me laugh. So don't think I didn't like No Country, I actually loved it very much, but Paul Thomas Anderson is one of the great loves of my life (without him knowing it). His films have truly touched me, he seems to put so much time and effort into the movement of every single shot, and the tiniest details of his characters. Magnolia struck a resonant chord in my life, and then came There Will Be Blood. That movie was ridiculously good. The Academy seemed to pat themseleves on the back for giving Daniel Day best actor and the film best cinemtography, thinking, "ok we've given them some acolades so they'll be happy". The truth rang clear when the Coens were named Best Director. PTA seemed awfully shocked that he did not win. I wasn't shocked, I was disappointed. When you watch There Will Be Blood, you can't help but think of the direction of the film. It wasn't just cinematography, which many people think, every single shot had a purpose, it moved the plot in a direction. It was to me a puzzle, with a million different intricate pieces that had to fit together perfectly in order to create a work of art, and it did! No Country had a definite message that maybe There Will Be Blood did not, don't get me wrong it had a message, but No Country seemed to really hit its message home more than Blood, and therefore it received the award, but PTA deserved that award. Every film he has ever made, every shot he has ever composed led him to There Will Be Blood and I truly truly believe that. Also, how dare anyone give Daniel Day best actor and not give Paul best director? Isn't a directors job to get the best peformance possible out of an actor, did Paul not pull the best performance in years out of him? I just don't get it. The Coen's sarcastic acceptance annoyed me. Sure they are funny, they are weird, we get it. But if PTA got up there, we would have seen a beautiful speech that he deserved to make. I'm extremely mad.
